Jersey Names and Numbers: Tips Before You Order

· 4 min read

The names and numbers are what make a jersey yours. Here's what you can print, where it goes, and how to avoid the most common mistakes.

What you can put on each jersey

  • Front: a name and a number
  • Back: a name and a number
  • Sleeve: a number (on jerseys with sleeves; basketball jerseys are sleeveless)

Every spot is optional, so you can print just a back name and number, or fill in all of them. Names can be up to 20 characters and print in capital letters. Numbers can be up to 3 digits. All of it is included in the price.

Common setups

  • Classic: last name and number on the back, number on the front.
  • Team name up front: the team name in the front name spot, with the player's number below it.
  • Number everywhere: the same number on the front, back and sleeve for a pro look.

Name ideas beyond last names

  • Nicknames for rec and beer league teams
  • First names for kids' teams, where several players may share a last name
  • A family name and the year for reunions and trips
  • Your fantasy team or company name for the front

Avoid these mistakes

  • Typos: we print exactly what you type. Have each player spell their own name.
  • Duplicate numbers: check the whole roster before ordering.
  • Mixed-up players: make sure each name is paired with the right size.
  • Extra spaces or punctuation: what you see in the cart is what gets printed.

Since jerseys are made to order, we can't take returns for typos. Review your cart line by line before checkout. If you spot a mistake right after ordering, email us right away. We can fix it if we haven't started on your jerseys. See the return policy for details.
